Mwangi is a practising accountant and a management consultant with 20 years of experience in training and practice in bothpublic and private sector institutions. He is a founder partner at GMK Accountants LLP, Certified Public Accountants, and is in charge of Business Advisory, Audit and Assurance and Quality Assurance.
Prior to founding GMK he worked at a firm of Certified Public Accountants starting from the position of Audit Senior and rising through the ranks to the position of Audit Manager and his exit position was Senior Audit Manager. In that position, he was in charge of audit of firms in different sectors including air transport, hotel and tourism, agriculture, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), market research and Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) among others. Mwangi is credited with successfull implementing strong quality assurance controls in audit and other business consultancy.
Mwangi is also experienced in client advisory on matters relating to compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), transaction advisory in capital structuring, business and strategic planning. Prior to joining audit practice, Mwangi was a Senior Lecturer in the Business Studies Department of the Kenya Polytechnic where he lectured in Accounting, Financial Management and Auditing to Certified Public Accountants (Kenya) students, as well as Diploma in Business Administration (Kenya National Examinations Council) candidates. Mwangi is also a consultant trainer in Strategic Institutional Risk Management, Forecasting and Budgeting, and Financial Management.
