Gerald is a founder partner at GMK Accountants LLP,Certified Public Accountants Kenya, and is the partner in charge of Tax Advisory. Prior to founding GMK, he worked at a firm of certified public accountants starting from the position of a tax senior and rose over the ranks to tax advisory partner. In that position he was in charge of all tax matters of its clients from diversified sectors on the economy.
Gerald is also experienced in international tax, transfer pricing policy, tax planning, and tax presentation during tax audits, tax dispute resolutions and tax appeals tribunal, tax health check, tax refunds and tax training. Gerald is credited with ensuring successful conclusion of tax cases as tax appeal tribunal.
Prior to joining tax practice, Gerald worked as a senior lecturer at the Vision Institute of Professionals where he lectured advance taxation. Apart from this, he also lectured in advanced taxation in various other accountancy colleges in Nairobi. During this period which spanned 13 years, he also served as an examiner of KASNEB in taxation papers.
Gerald is also a member of Public Finance and Taxation sub-committee of ICPAK. The committee executes its mandate in partnering with other stakeholders including Kenya Revenue Authority, National treasury, parliamentary committees, senate and other stakeholders on areas relating to public finance and tax.
Gerald contributes to business editorials and opinions in different media houses on topical issues where he has commented in his capacity as a tax expert. He also sits on various board committees which he contributes eminently on finance and tax perspective.
